Life Sciences Faculty holds international conference

Members of the University of Ilorin community have been urged to take full advantage of the forthcoming Maiden International Conference of the Faculty of Life Sciences as a platform to advance Vision 2030.

This advice is contained in a notification by the Faculty on the upcoming conference that would be held between May 19 and 22, 2026 at the University Auditorium.

The notification, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin, said that the event would position scholars and students to engage with global experts, share research, and develop practical solutions to health, food security, and environmental challenges. “This is an opportunity for Unilorites to stand at the forefront of innovation and national progress”, it added.

According to the Local Organising Committee, the conference, themed “Vision 2030: Harnessing Life Sciences for Improved Health and Sustainable Development,” is expected to draw researchers, academics, and professionals from Nigeria and abroad.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, while a pre-conference workshop will hold on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The notification further revealed that the conference would feature two keynote speakers: Professor Femi Olorunniji, Group Head of Synthetic Biology at the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, and Dr. Lotanna Micah Nnejji of the Department of Biology, Howard University, Washington DC, United States of America as Prof. Osarehoe Omorefosa Osemwegie, Vice-Chancellor of Lighthouse University, Edo State, will be the Guest Speaker.

The sub-themes of the conference cut across a broad spectrum of Life Sciences, including Innovations in Drug Discovery and Development, Stem Cell Research and Applications in Regenerative Medicine, Genomics and Proteomics in Healthcare, Biotechnology and Sustainable Development, Nutrition and Disease Prevention, Artificial Intelligence in Life Sciences, and Environmental Safety and Food Security.
