Ajao affirms UNILORIN growing impacts on KWASU Medical School

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Prof. Salihu Moyosore Ajao, has acknowledged the positive impacts of the University of Ilorin on the growth of the young Medical School.
Prof. Ajao made this commendation last Tuesday (May 6, 2026) while speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin in his office.
The don explained that the role of the University of Ilorin in the establishment of the KWASU Medical School was pivotal and can never be over-emphasised.
Prof. Ajao, who is also the immediate past Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ilorin Branch, explained that apart from providing the Chairman and most of the members of the Committee that birthed the KWASU Medical School, the better by far University has also been lending one form of support or the other to the young medical school.
He explained that the workforce of the young medical school is dominated by either those trained at the University of Ilorin or its staff members.
Prof. Ajao thanked some retired staff members of the University of Ilorin Medical School who took contract appointment at the young medical school as he also appreciated senior academic staff of UNILORIN College of Health Sciences for taking sabbatical appointments at the KWASU Medical School.
He said that their presence is not only strengthening the young medical school but also encouraging more prospective medical doctors and their parents and guardians to choose KWASU for their training.
Prof. Ajao assured stakeholders that both the KWASU Medical School and the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, would reduce the pressure on the UNILORIN Medical School and the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
