UNILORIN approves new burial allowance for staff members

The Governing Council of the University of Ilorin has approved an upward review of the burial expenses allowance to be paid to the family of a deceased staff member from ₦200,000:00 to ₦500,000:00 with effect from January 1, 2026.

This was contained in a memo dated April 22, 2026 and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin.

The Registrar said that the decision was one of the highlights of the 192nd meeting of the Council, held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 and Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

Mr Alfanla explained that the upward review is in response to the recommendations made to the Council at the 62nd Meeting of Congregation held on September 15, 2026.
