Ku8+ members celebrate Egbewole’s appointment to Body of Benchers

Congratulatory messages have continued to trail the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, into the prestigious Body of Benchers, the apex legal regulatory institution in Nigeria.
Members of the Ku8+, the Consortium of Kwara universities, have, in separate massages, hailed the appointment of Prof. Egbewole, their Chairman, as well-deserved.
While congratulating Prof. Egbewole, the management of Landmark University, Omu-Aran, in a letter, entitled ‘ Celebrating a Remarkable Honour’, by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kolawole O. Ajanaku, pointed out that Prof. Egbewole stands out as a leader, as a legal mind and as an academic.
In the letter, dated April 21, 2026, Prof. Ajanaku said, “At this point Sir, one begins to wonder if there is any distinguished honour that has not found its way to you’’, adding, ‘‘This latest recognition feels less like a breaking news and more like a natural progression, as though excellence simply continues to follow your lead’’.
Prof. Ajanaku further stated, ‘‘Your consistent display of brilliance, leadership and dedication to both the legal profession and academia remains a source of inspiration to many. This achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for all who are privileged to be associated with your leadership “.
In another Congratulatory message, dated April 20, 2026, the Officer in Charge of the Vice Chancellor’s Office of Jimoh Babalola University, Ilorin, Prof. Muftau Adeniyi Ijaiya, described the appointment as a recognition of Prof. Egbewole’s erudition, versatility, and deep-rooted expertise in the legal profession, noting his distinguished contributions as both an academic and as a legal practitioner.
Prof. Ijaiya further said, “The appointment speaks volume of your erudition, versatility and well-grounded knowledge and experience in the law profession as both a teacher and practitioner. It is a testament to your leadership qualities shown over the years not only in the legal profession but in every endeavour you have ventured into.”
On his part, the Vice Chancellor of Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University, (MKU), Ogidi, Ilorin, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, described Prof. Egbewole as “our worthy mentor” while the Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Prof. Lateef Oladimeji, described the appointment as “a well deserved appointment to a prestigious role.”
In the congratulatory message published by the University of Offa on its social media handles last Monday (April 20,2026) monitored by UNILORIN Bulletin, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade, described Prof. Egbewole’s appointment to the Body of Benchers as a fitting recognition of Prof. Egbewole’s sterling credentials, exemplary leadership, and enduring contributions to the development of legal education and practice in Nigeria.
He added that the Body of Benchers requires individuals of proven integrity, vast experience, and sound judgment, which are qualities Prof. Egbewole embodies. He added that the honour is also a moment of pride for the academic community and the nation as a whole.
