Mustaphas’ daughter, Asmau, weds

Penultimate Saturday (April 4, 2026) was a great day in the lives of two senior staff members of the University of Ilorin, a Chief Technologist at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mr Usman Kola Mustapha and the Ag. Director, Centre for Counseling and Human Development, Dr Mulikat Mustapha, as their daughter, Asmau Yetunde, was joined in holy matrimony with Mr Abdulsamad Opeyemi Tiamiyu.
Officiating the solemnisation, Shaykh Abdulkadir Lanre enjoined the couple to always be patient and honest with each other for them to build a beautiful family that the society would be proud of.
The cleric urged the parents and siblings of the newest couple to support them with regular prayers and advice as he also encouraged them to always remind them that with patience and prayers all challenges would be conquered.
The event, which took place at the residence of Mr and Dr Mustapha in the Oke-Foma Residential Layout, Pakata area, Ilorin, was witnessed by several dignitaries including the Talba of Ilorin and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR; the Head of the Department of Geophysics, University of Ilorin, Prof. Saminu Olatunji; and a lecturer at the Department of Educational Management, University of Ilorin, Dr Falilat Abdullahi.
The event was also attended by Prof. Nafisat A. Adedokun-Shittu, Prof. Muhinat B. Bello, Dr Mariam B. Alwajud-Adewusi and Dr Khadijat Magaji-Yusuf of the Department of Educational Guidance and Counselling, University of Ilorin.
Also in attendance were the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Nasarawa State, Alhaji Shehu Abdulwahab; a retired Director of Finance and Accounts, Court of Appeal, Mr Hanafi Oladimeji Bello; a former Deputy Provost of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Alhaji Shehu Ibrahim Saleeman as well Mr Sikiru Mustapha of the Office of the Registrar, University of Ilorin.
In a chat with to UNILORIN Bulletin on the sideline of the event, the parents of the bride expressed profound gratitude to Allah for keeping them alive to witness one of the glorious days of their daughter. The duo also thanked relations, friends and colleagues as well as other well-wishers for supporting them fully before and in the course of the ceremony.
The bride parents also prayed that Allah should grant the new couple all they would need to build a great family.
