Ilorin Group to sponsor 2 Unilorites through school

A socio-cultural organisation, Third Estate, Ilorin Emirate, has announced its resolve to sponsor two indigent but promising students of the University of Ilorin through their respective courses of studies. The beneficiaries are Mr Sultan Ayoade Busari and Mr Abdubasit Abubakar Gbodofu. The two are 100 Level students of the Department of Accounting and Finance and College of Health Sciences, respectively.
This decision was announced penultimate Sunday(April 5, 2026) by the President of the Association, Alhaji Ahmed Ladan Gobir, while presenting the duo to members of the Association at its 2026 Annual General Meeting held in Ilorin.
The President, who is also the President and Chairman of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, explained that the sponsorship worth ₦250, 000 for each of the duo is intended to support the students towards the successful completion of their academic programmes in order for them to become responsible citizens.
Alhaji Gobir said that the annual financial support would always be credited to the purse of the University after necessary verifications and clearance from the institution.
On the choice of students of the University of Ilorin, Alhaji Gobir, who is a top executive of the Dangote Cement Company, said that though it was not deliberate it would definitely promote the existing cordial relationship between the University and its host community.
He assured all that more students of Ilorin origin schooling at the University and sister institutions of higher learning would be considered for similar support as time progresses and based on the capacity of the Association.
Responding, the two beneficiaries, who spoke one after the other, thanked the Association for the privilege. They also assured the Association that they would justify the investment on them by facing their studies squarely.
The Association comprises several professionals of Ilorin origin including the Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, among several other staff members and alumni of the University.
