The Deputy Director (Estate Management), University of Ilorin, Dr Bolakale Sahid Baba, has encouraged staff members of the institution who are occupying official residences to ensure the deliberate and periodic control of vegetation around their residences.

Dr Baba made this appeal last Thursday (April 9, 2026) while speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin in his office.

He explained that the advice was necessitated by the reports emanating from the relevant agencies that this year’s raining season would witness significant rainstorms.

Dr Baba, who is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers(NIESV), said that those who have trees around their premises should ensure that branches of those trees are carefully removed.

He also advised them not to park their cars under such trees to avoid a situation where such trees or their branches would fall on their cars whenever it rains.

Dr Baba similarly advised them to ensure that grasses growing around their premises are periodically weeded. This, he said, would discourage the breeding of mosquitoes and unfriendly reptiles and flies that could find their way into their residences and cause them harm.
