Unilorite appointed Nigeria’s FISU Ambassador

A 400 level student of the Department of Physiotherapy, University of Ilorin, Miss Esther Anuoluwapo Kolawole,  has been appointed as the Nigerian Ambassador at the International University Sports Federation ( FISU) for the 2025-2026 term.

The news of the appointment was conveyed to the University of Ilorin by the Secretariat of the Nigerian Universities Games Association (NUGA) through a letter signed by the Acting Secretary-General of the Association, Mr Yunusa M. Bazza and delivered to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, last Monday (March 23,2026).

In the course of flying the Nigerian flag as FISU Ambassador, Miss Kolawole “will represent Nigeria in the FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy( FVLA)-an international platform dedicated to training young leaders in sports volunteering, event management, and intercultural engagement”,according to the letter.

The Unilorite will also join other students who serve as ambassador of their respective countries from across the world and would learn skills in management of multi-sport events towards promoting values of sportsmanship,  inclusion and education through sports in their respective countries.

While congratulating the Vice Chancellor on the appointment, the Secretary General of NUGA noted that Miss Kolawole earned the appointment  on her personal merits and also on account of the University’s strong tradition of producing talent and globally competitive students.

Mr Bazza urged the University to avail Miss Kolawole with the needed institutional support to discharge her responsibilities to the fullest.
