A distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulRazaq Ayodeji Ilyas, has commended the high quality of service delivery of the institution’s information channels, particularly the UNILORIN Bulletin and UNILORIN 89.3 FM.

Prof. Ilyas gave this commendation last Monday (March 23, 2026) in a telephone chat with UNILORIN Bulletin.

The don explained that he  always reads UNILORIN Bulletin online and often listens to UNILORIN FM whenever he is Ilorin, saying that the contents of the two are very informative and encouraging.

Prof. Ilyas, who teaches at the University of Abuja, said that as a proud alumnus who earned all his degrees from the University of Ilorin, he was also impressed that the University often secures favourable coverage on national media platforms, which he said cannot be divorced from the magnitude and quality of services rendered by the internal media of the University.

He encouraged the operators of both  the UNILORIN Bulletin and UNILORIN FM as well as others not to relent in their efforts, saying that he and other alumni of the University are proud of their outputs and would continue to rely on them in their desire to be conversant with unfolding developments at the institution.

Speaking on other issues, Prof. Ilyas, who previously taught at the Kwara State College of Education (Technical), Lafiagi; and Federal University, Dutsinma, Katsina State, said that the University of Ilorin would continue to be a leading citadel of learning in Nigeria not just because of its geographical location and enormous size but also due to the quality of service delivery enjoyed by its students.

Prof. Ilyas added that there is no office or institution he goes, particularly in Abuja, that he doesn’t come across alumni of the University who are doing very well.

He also commended the University for providing mentorship for other Kwara State-based universities, saying that the establishment of the Consortium of Kwara State Universities (KU8+) is a good development, which should be emulated by other States for the betterment of the nation’s University system.

While thanking both the academic and non-teaching staff members for keeping the flag flying, Prof. Ilyas enjoined the current students of the University to always face their studies squarely for them to also become proud alumni of the University in no distant future.
