UNILORIN to host French Resource Centre

In acknowledgement of its rising profile as a centre of academic excellence, the University of Ilorin has been selected by France to host a multimillion naira French Resource Centre.
This development was disclosed in a letter signed by the Attache for Education and Linguistic Cooperation of the Embassy of France in Nigeria, Magaty Losanga, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.
According to the letter, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin, the Centre would provide a specialised training for the academic staff of the University as it would also help in enhancing their access to digital and physical pedagogical resources.
The letter added that the proposed Centre would also provide complementary actions that will support the certification of students, language proficiency. It added that the Centre would also strengthen connections with professional sectors by ensuring that language skills acquired would provide beneficiaries with more relevant employability opportunities.
In a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulganiyu Jawondo, said that he was extremely delighted with the establishment of the proposed Centre.
While saying that the Centre is one of the key achievements of his tenure, the Dean thanked the French government for selecting the University of Ilorin as one of the beneficiaries, promising that the University would make effective use of it for the purpose intended.
Prof. Jawondo, who confirmed that the Centre would be domiciled in his Faculty, said that it would enhance service delivery and assist the University to maintain its leadership positions at regional, national and global levels.
