Mrs. Egbewole, who retired from the University service on January 30, 2026, as a Deputy Registrar upon reaching the mandatory retirement age, was honoured during a visit that the Registrar noted would now become a standard tradition for all retiring Deputy Registrars.
At the event held last Tuesday (February 10, 2025) at the Vice-Chancellor’s lodge, the Registrar commended Mrs Egbewole’s work ethics and diligence. He wished her a joyful commencement of her well-earned retirement.
In his own tribute, the Deputy Registrar (Examination and Transcript), Mr. Moses Opaleke, described the honouree as a “mild and easy-going individual,” expressing his hope that her retirement remains a time of pure joy.
Mrs. Sherifat Saka-Lawal, a Deputy Registrar in the Registrar’s Office, recalled her first meeting with Mrs Egbewole in 2012 at the College of Health Sciences, describing the retiring Deputy Registrar as a “diligent and kind administrator.”
Also speaking, Mr. Kabir Adewoyin, the Deputy Registrar (Human Resources, Non-Teaching), highlighted Mrs Egbewole’s humility and unwavering dedication to her duties throughout her career.
In her response, Mrs. Egbewole expressed profound gratitude to the Registrar and her colleagues for the visit. Reflecting on her decades of service, she disclosed that she is currently writing an autobiography.
She said tha the upcoming book is expected to provide a detailed insight into her life, covering her professional journey within the university administration; her personal life and family experiences; and lessons learned over the past 65 years of her life and service.
Mrs. Egbewole concluded by commending the new culture of honouring retirees, which, she noted, would promote a sense of belonging within the administrative cadre of the University.
