A distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin, who is also the Press Secretary to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona, has praised the University for laying the foundation for his career and consequent achievements.
In an interview with UNILORIN 89.3FM, which was anchored by the Station Manager, Mr Idris Alooma, Dr. Arowona thanked the University for grooming him into the person he is today.
Speaking on his career, Dr Arowona, who is the founder of Royal Online Newspaper and Emirate Radio Station, said that his goal is to provide opportunities for young media practitioners, noting that many Nigerian news outlets are owned by non-journalists.
Dr Arowona described working with the Emir of Ilorin Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR, as effortless, citing the monarch’s peaceful nature and avoidance of controversy. He said the experience has not only brought benefits to him but also to all those around the Emir and the nation at large.
The Press Secretary revealed that his book, “The Royal Stool,” aimed to leave a lasting legacy and provide valuable insights for researchers. His latest book, “Spiritual Orator,” honours the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alh. (Dr.) Muhammad Basheer Soliu, OON, and reflects his passion for scholarship and heritage preservation.
Dr Arowona, who is also the Shettima of Okuta Emirate and Chikansoro Tangale, is an accomplished journalist who has received various professional certifications and memberships of highly rated professional organisations.
