A renowned philanthropist and Chairman, The Promise Fast Food, Dr Tajudeen Oluwatoyin Alabi, has announced plans to establish a fast food outlet at the University of Ilorin that would provide students with nutritious and affordable meals. This initiative, according to Dr Alabi, is part of his broader mission to empower youth and uplift his community through education and opportunity.
Dr Alabi unveiled this commitment last Thursday (January 22, 2026) when he visited UNILORIN 89.3 FM after watching a drama performance staged by students of the Department of English and Literary Studies
He added that he has also awarded scholarships to deserving students, including Miss Precious Olamide Afolabi and Sunday Esther Obonganwa, who were given ₦100,000 in addition to full scholarship to enable them to face their studies squarely.
The philanthropist emphasised the importance of the arts in shaping values, culture, and societal consciousness, stating that creative expressions like drama and literature play a critical role in nurturing creativity, empathy, and critical thinking among young Nigerians.
He also shared his personal journey of giving back as he enjoined others to take responsibility for their communities.
Dr Alabi’s company is a major hospitality brand in Nigeria’s South-South region, and he plans to expand it to Kwara State and University of Ilorin in particular to create opportunities for students and locals alike.
He praised the visionary leadership of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole SAN.
In a bold move, Dr Alabi unveiled plans for Nigeria’s first tuition-free university to be established in Igbaja Kwara State focusing on Sports, Vocational Studies, and Entertainment, aimed at equipping graduates with practical skills to thrive in competitive environments. This initiative addresses the nation’s pressing challenges of youth unemployment and skills gaps.
Dr Alabi’s holistic approach to development, combining education, culture, and entrepreneurship, offers a compelling blueprint for leaders and citizens to follow, proving that transformation begins when vision meets action at every level of society. His efforts demonstrate a profound understanding that sustainable progress is multi-dimensional, requiring passion, purpose, and partnership.
