Oyedepo elected National Legal Adviser of Omo Ibile Igbomina

A Deputy Bursar in the Bursary Unit of the University of Ilorin, Mr Sunday Olaitan Oyedepo, has been elected the National Legal Adviser II of Omo Ibile Igbomina, the flagship socio-cultural association of the Igbomina people of Kwara State.
Oyedepo, who hails from Owu, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, was among the new 20-member National Executive Council of the Association who were sworn in last Saturday (January 10, 2026) at the Omo Ibile Igbomina House, Ganmo.
The new Igbomina NEC, led by veteran trade union activist and former Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Sir Bisi Fakayode, will run the affairs of the pan-Igbomina group for two years in the first instance and renewable for another term of two years.
In his acceptance speech, Barrister Oyedepo, a staunch member of the Omo Ibile Igbomina, UNILORIN Branch, expressed gratitude to members of the Association for the confidence reposed in him, describing the election as a call to service and responsibility.
He said, “I am deeply honoured by this mandate and the trust placed in me by the Igbomina people. I pledge to discharge my duties with utmost integrity, professionalism and commitment to the unity, progress and legal protection of our Association.”
Mr Oyedepo further assured all that he would work closely with other members of the National Executive Council to strengthen the organisation’s constitutional processes and promote peaceful coexistence among Igbomina communities across the country and in the Diaspora.
Other officers elected into the National Executive Council include, Sir Festus Bisi Fakayode, National President; Aransiola Julius, National Vice President; Dr Salami Babatunde, National General Secretary; Afolayan Joel Olawale, Assistant National General Secretary; Bamigbose David Olusegun, National Treasurer; Ajibola Olugbenga Friday, National Financial Secretary; Aiyedun Olaitan Hammed, National Social Secretary; Adedayo Bisi Jacob, National Publicity Secretary; Abdulsalam Mulikat ‘Solape, National Auditor I; Abolarin Ganiyu Olarewaju, National Auditor II; and Chief P.A.O. Olorunnisola (SAN), Legal Adviser I (Life). Nominated members are Idris Oladele Saka, Kareem Yinusa Adekunle, Aborisade Theophilus Arinola, Adekeye Benjamin Olatayo, Oyebanji Abiodun Joseph and Ajide Sunday.
Also elected are Saheed Abdulwasiu Olatayo, Youth Representative; and AbdulKareem Fadhilat Omolola, Women Representative.
The new Executive Council is expected to steer the affairs of Omo Ibile Igbomina for the next two years and work towards the cultural and social advancement of the Igbomina people.
