UNILORIN loses prominent alumnus

The death has been announced of a prominent alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Dr AbdulGafar Rasheed Kamal. Dr Kamal died last Wednesday(January 7, 2026) in Ilorin after a brief illness.
The deceased, prior to his demise, was the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin.
The remains of Dr Kamal have since been buried at the New Ilorin Muslim Cemetery after a well-attended Janazah prayer held at his ancestral residence, Ara-Agbaji Compound, Kamaldeen Street, Okekere-Masingba, Ilorin.
Dr Kamal, who earned his first and second degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ilorin before crowning his academic credentials with a doctorate degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Ibadan, was appointed as the NCAM’s Chief Executive by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
