The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the University management to the growth and sustainability of UNILORIN TV.
Prof. Egbewole gave the assurance last Monday (December 22, 2025), while declaring open the maiden Christmas Fiesta and Fundraising Programme organised by UNILORIN TV at the Multipurpose Hall.
Represented on the occasion by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Muhtar Adeiza Etudaiye, the Vice Chancellor commended the initiative behind the event, describing UNILORIN TV as a strategic communication asset that aligns with the University’s vision of broadening its reach and strengthening its visibility across global platforms.
Prof. Egbewole assured the station’s management, staff, and volunteering students that the University would continue to support their programmes, innovations, and operational expansion.
In her welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, explained the rapid progress of Unilorin TV since its establishment last year.
The Dean who was represented by the Ag. Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr Patrick Udende, noted that the University Administration demonstrated strong interest in the project from inception, which ensured that the processes leading to its takeoff were swift and unhindered.
According to the Dean, the Christmas Fiesta was conceived as part of efforts to showcase what Unilorin TV represents and the value it promises to deliver, adding that the platform was created to expand the visibility of the University of Ilorin and to serve as a medium for projecting its achievements, programmes, and community impact to wider audiences.
Prof. Abdulbaqi explained that the purpose of the gathering was not merely to mark the festive season, but to reinforce the core values of love, oneness, and unity, which the season symbolises and which the University community holds dear.
The Dean added that the event also reflects the institution’s deliberate commitment to strengthening its global footprint through innovative communication channels.
Highlights of the programme included sonorous rendition of Christmas Carols.
