The Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Ilorin Branch, Mr Naheem Falowo, has urged members of the Association and their colleagues to familiarise themselves with the institution’s Conditions of Service to avoid violating established rules and regulations.

Mr Falowo made the call last Monday (December 15, 2025) while addressing the SSANU Congress meeting held at the Union’s Secretariat Complex.

He stressed that understanding the University’s Conditions of Service should be a priority for every staff member, particularly newly employed personnel, to prevent actions that could lead to disciplinary measures or termination of appointment.

Mr Falowo warned staff against all forms of gratification within the University community, advising them to shun bribery and be cautious of gifts that could compromise their integrity.

According to him, maintaining personal and professional integrity is essential to sustaining a successful career in the university system.

The SSANU Chairman further appealed to members to conduct themselves responsibly in order to avoid appearances before disciplinary committees, urging strict adherence to the university’s rules and regulations at all times.

Speaking on the theme “Know Your Limit,” Mr Falowo also advised members to live within their means, cautioning against financial decisions that exceed their income.

“Don’t put your wards in schools you can’t afford, don’t buy a car you can’t afford, watch your movement and know your limit”, Mr Falowo advised.

He encouraged staff to be mindful of their spending habits, noting that financial pressure could lead to stress and depression.

The SSANU Chairman commended members for their turnout at the Congress and called for renewed commitment to Union activities, urging them to respond positively to the Union’s clarion call.

Mr Falowo reaffirmed his commitment to leading the Union with integrity and pledged to continue advocating for the development of SSANU and the welfare of its members.
