The Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, has encouraged youths to always be relentless in the pursuit of their dreams, particularly those that have to do with their careers.
Prof. Abdulbaqi gave this charge last Thursday (December 18, 2025) while speaking at a one-day workshop organised in her honour by the UNILORIN Television on Media Workshop on Audio and Sound Editing Software at the Laboratory Room of the Department of Computer Science.
The Dean said that it is important for youths to be resilient, determined and courageous for them to achieve their desires in life, saying that with determination they can attain any level.
Prof. Abdulbaqi, who is also a Council Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), commended the trio of Mr Lukman Idris, Mr Yusuf Tajudeen and Miss Ganiyat Aderinoye for organising the event in her honour, which he said would be beneficial to participants.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion and Head, Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, Dr Patrick Udende, described editing as a practise that has a lot of significance in media profession.
Dr Udende described editing as every effort deployed towards improving the quality of products to be presented to the public.
He, therefore, advised media professionals to always attach utmost seriousness to editing for they and their works to be free of errors and respected.
In his presentation, Mr Lukman Idris urged participants to always be armed with quality equipment and must have the presence of minds at all times.
He took the participants through the different kinds of microphones and other every day broadcast implements as he said that equipment used can either add or reduce the quality of presentations.
The event was attended by the Director, General Studies Division, University of Ilorin, Prof. Mustapha Kayode Lambe; a Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Dr Aishat Imam-Omolosho and a former Sub-Dean, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Dr Amos Bajeh; and the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, who was represented by the Deputy Editor of UNILORIN Bulletin, Mr Abubakar Imam; among others.
