The University of Ilorin is currently conducting the National Examination Council (NECO) Computer-Based Test (CBT) Examinations.

In an interview co-anchored by UNILORIN FM Manager, Mr Idris Alooma and Head of Programme, Mr Temitope Olawuyi, last Wednesday (December 3, 2025), the Deputy Director of Programming at NECO, Mr AbdulRasheed Rabana, commended the University’s CBT Centre, saying, “We did our feasibility studies and assessed the facilities available, and UNILORIN’s CBT Centre stood out.”

According to Rabana, the CBT examinations at UNILORIN have a maximum of 250 candidates, and the facility is well-equipped to accommodate them efficiently.

He noted that the examination is hybrid, combining multiple-choice and essay questions, with support available for candidates with special needs or disabilities.

Mr Rabana emphasised that NECO’s transition to CBT aims to improve the examination process, reduce malpractice, and increase efficiency.

“CBT has many advantages, including timely delivery of questions, reduced chance of malpractice, and instant results,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to support NECO, saying, “NECO’s certificate is one of the most sought-after in Africa, but we still need support to sustain the initiative.”

On his part, the Director of UNILORIN’s CBT Centre, Prof. Kamilu Raufu, expressed pride in partnering with NECO to support Nigeria’s education sector.

“We’re proud to partner with NECO and support the development of our nation’s education sector,” he said.

Prof. Raufu called on other examination bodies to partner with UNILORIN, saying, “We’ve demonstrated our capability, and we’re ready to support other institutions.”
