A Lecturer at the Department of Educational Management , Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED), Ilorin, Mrs Nusirat Omofolake Oniyeye, has commended the University of Ilorin for supporting new universities within and outside Kwara State to grow.
Mrs Oniyeye gave this commendation last Wednesday (December 3, 2025) in a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin. She explained that the University of Ilorin, which is the premier University in Kwara State, has been supporting younger institutions to stand the test of time.
She particularly commended the impact of the University of Ilorin on KWASUED, saying that apart from producing its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Medinat Folorunso Salman, and its University Librarian, Dr Akanbi, she noted that the KWASUED’s Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, is also a former Vice Chancellor of the Better By Far University.
Mrs Oniyeye also explained that many senior academics from the University of Ilorin have also been rendering critical support to the young University while a few of them are currently on sabbatical leave at KWASUED.
She also pointed out that many of the staff of KWASUED are either alumni of the University of Ilorin or those of the universities nurtured by it.
Mrs Oniyeye expressed the hope that the University of Ilorin would offer more support to KWASUED and other young universities in the State in line with the reason behind the formation of the Consortium of Universities in Kwara State (Ku8+).
