COMSIT’s ex-Director,  Afolabi, bags NCS award

A former Director of the University of Ilorin Computer, Information Management and Technology Centre( COMSIT), Dr Monisoye Sola Afolabi, has been honoured by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) in recognition of his many years of visionary guidance, exceptional leadership, and meritorious contributions to the growth of the Society and the IT profession in Nigeria.Dr Afolabi headed the  Centre between 1982 to 1989.

The award ceremony, which formed part of the 2025 Nigeria Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), was recently held at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Dr Afolabi, who also served as the  pioneer Director of the ECOWAS Community Computer Centre, Lome, Togo, from 1989 to 2010, and National President of the Omupo Descendants Union(OMU), was celebrated for his extensive professional achievements.

Speaking on the development, Dr Afolabi expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Computer Society for the recognition, describing the award as an honour for decades of humble service to the IT profession in Nigeria and West Africa.
