ILUMSA organises medical outreach in Ilorin

Medical students of the University of Ilorin in collaboration with the Ayegbami Community, Alagbado, Okelele in Ilorin East local Government Area of Kwara State, last Tuesday(December 3, 2025) conducted free medical screening for the residents of Ayegbami community.

The organisers also provided medication for 500 beneficiaries and recommended referral to health facilities where necessary.

The well attended medical outreach was part of activities marking the 40th anniversary of Ilorin University Medical Students Association (ILUMSA).

Flagging off the outreach, the Senior Advisor/Cousellor to the Kwara State Governor, Alh Saadu Salahudeen, said primary healthcare should remain one of the topmost priorities of every community.

Alhaji Salahudeen, who is a veteran journalist and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, commended the medical students for choosing Ayegbami for the all- important medical outreach.

He also praised the residents of the community for turning out enmasse for the programme.

He commended the University of Ilorin “for complementing efforts in delivering primary healthcare to our people.”

Also speaking, the President of ILUMSA, Mr Toheeb AbdulGaniyu, who expressed delight over the impressive turn out of the people for the programme, said the programme is an annual event aimed at improving the wellbeing of the residents of the benefitting communities.

The Vice President of ILUMSA,Adu Samuel said the medical outreach was organised to mark the 40th anniversary of the association.

The team lead of the medical outreach, Oreoluwa Adeniyi, thanked the Senior Adviser/Counselor for his huge support for the students, which ensured the success of the event.

She also thanked the leaders of Ayegbami community for mobilising their people for the event, expressing satisfaction about the turn out and the conduct of the beneficiaries.

The event was attended by several dignitaries including the Alangua Ibagun, Alh Sakariyahu Ilufemiloye; the Senior Special Assistant on Religion( Islam) to the Kwara State Governor, Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro; the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government Area, Malam Lukman Agbelere, who was represented by his Deputy, Hajia Nafisat AbdulRaheem; the  Supervisor for Health in Ilorin East LGA, Alhaja Bolaji Sanni; and the Regional Editor of LEADERSHIP Newspapers, Alh Abdullahi Olesin,among several others.
