The Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (FCIS), Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, has charged staff members of the Faculty to emulate the industry, devotion and fraternity of her immediate past predecessor, Prof. Adesina Lukman Azeez and a former Sub-Dean of the Faculty, Dr Amos Bajeh, as well as the former Faculty Officer, Mrs Rotimi Titilope Bamidele.

Prof. Abdulbaqi stated this last Monday (December 1, 2025) while speaking at a reception held in honour of the trio at the Faculty Board Room. The Dean described the former Dean as a workaholic teacher and a man who worked for the greatness of the Faculty before, during and since the completion of his tenure as Dean of the Faculty.

Prof. Abdulbaqi recalled that Prof. Azeez competently combined administrative responsibilities with his core duties of teaching, research and community service throughout his tenure as she described him as an ideal academic and administrator. She thanked Prof. Azeez, who is also a former Head of the Department of Mass Communication, for serving competently for two consecutive terms as Dean of the Faculty.

Prof. Abdulbaqi also recalled the contributions of the other two honourees, saying that they did very well and that the Faculty would remain immensely grateful to them.

Speaking on other issues, the Dean urged her colleagues, academic and non-teaching, to continue to see students of the Faculty as their children who should be properly treated, guided and moulded for them to become responsible citizens.

Others who spoke appreciated the various contributions of the honourees. They urged them to keep up their good works for them to remain shining examples to other members of the Faculty and the University at large.

The event was attended by the immediate past University Librarian, University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulWahab Olanrewaju Issa and several staff members of the Faculty.
