UNILORIN’s training shaped my career – Mamman

An alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Eli Mamman, has lauded the institution for the exceptional academic foundation that shaped his rise to professorship

Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin last Wednesday (November 26, 2025), Prof. Mamman recalled his journey to earning a Ph.D. at UNILORIN in 2000, a feat that made him the only doctoral graduate from his Department that year.

Prof. Mamman, who became a Professor at the University of Maiduguri in 2009, stated that several scholars from the North have since followed in his footsteps, breaking previous misconceptions and benefitting from UNILORIN’s high academic standards.

He urged the University to continue to uphold neutrality, fairness, and quality scholarship.

“I still go there as an external examiner, and I can say they have maintained their momentum. UNILORIN accommodates everyone without sentiment. That is why it has remained one of the best in Nigeria,” he said.
