Oloyede nominated NigeriaLics Secretary-General

The Director, Centre for Research Development and In-House Training (CREDIT), University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulkarim Oloyede, has been nominated as the Secretary-General of Nigerian Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems -NigeriaLics- (https://nigerialics.ng/)
NigeriaLics is the Nigerian hub of AfricaLics (https://africalics.org/), the African Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence Building Systems. It serves as a platform that brings together scholars, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners interested in innovation and development research in Nigeria and across Africa.
In a letter addressed to Prof. Oloyede dated October 4, 2025, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin, the President of NigeriaLics Scientific Board, Dr Maruf Sanni, remarked that “following a rigorous review process of the applications and curricula vitae of all shortlisted candidates, your credentials, professional achievements, and demonstrated commitment to the values and objectives of NigeriaLics and AfricaLics stood out prominently”.
Dr Sanni added that “the Committee is convinced that your leadership as Secretary-General will advance the mission of NigeriaLics in nurturing the next generation of scholars, deepening research collaboration, and supporting innovation for development in Nigeria and beyond”.
One of the central objectives of NigeriaLics is to build and strengthen the careers of young scholars in the fields of innovation, science, technology, and development studies, thereby contributing to national and continental capacity for inclusive and sustainable development.
Prof. Oloyede, who teaches at the Department of Telecommunications, University of Ilorin, is a Wireless and Internet Governance specialist with over a decade of academic and industry experience.
In 2021, Prof. Oloyede was appointed a Consultant by the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) to the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC).
