The Bursar of the University of Ilorin, Mr Abiodun Lawal, last Wednesday (November 12, 2025) described the upcoming 50th anniversary of the University as not just a commemoration of its past achievements but also a blueprint for sustainable growth.
Mr Lawal stated this while featuring on a special personality interview programme, titled “Countdown to UNILORIN @ 50” on UNILORIN 89.3 FM. The programme was co‑hosted by the Station Manager, Mr Idris Alooma, and Head of Programmes, Mr Temitope Olawuyi.
The Bursar outlined how the institution’s golden jubilee will be a catalyst for long‑term, sustainable development.
Mr Lawal, who has served the University in different capacities, emphasised that the 50th anniversary is more than just a celebration. He described it as a strategic opportunity to embed financial prudence, expand critical infrastructure, and deepen alumni engagement. “We are using this milestone to fast‑track projects that would otherwise take a decade,” he said.
The Bursar highlighted the commitment of the University to cutting expenditure without compromising quality, noting strict adherence to procurement and payment procedures.
Mr Lawal also praised the leadership style of the Vice Chancellor and the management team for maintaining a stable academic calendar and fostering a “God‑fearing, servant‑leadership” ethos.
He noted that Unilorin is always willing and ready to ensure transparency and participation, reinforcing a culture of accountability and innovation in financial management.
