The President of the Postgraduate Students Association (POGSASS), University of Ilorin, Mr Hakeem Abiodun Kuranga, has assured the management and staff of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs (DCA) of the Association’s readiness to work with them towards projecting and preserving the alluring image of the University.

Mr Kuranga gave this assurance last Tuesday (September 2, 2025) when he led members of the newly constituted Executive Council of the Association on a courtesy visit to the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun.

The POGSASS President, who explained that the purpose of the visit was to introduce the new EXCO members to the management and staff of the Directorate, said that his tenure would be characterised by a very good relationship with the Directorate and the University management.

He added that his team would work towards ensuring that the tranquility of the campus is not disturbed by anything, particularly students’ unrest as he said that peace on campus would always enable the students to complete their academic programmes as scheduled.

Mr Kuranga, who is a doctoral student at the Department of Agronomy, said that the Association would work with the leadership of the Student Union on the need to maintain peace and orderliness on campus.

He, therefore, requested for a slot on the programme schedule of the UNILORIN 89.3 FM for a weekly programme to be aired by the Association.

Mr Kuranga also expressed the desire of some members of the Association to be trained on programme presentation on the radio and other forms of media practice.

While thanking the UNILORIN Bulletin and UNILORIN FM for the adequate coverage of the Association’s electioneering activities, Mr Kuranga appealed to the two media outfits for similar coverage of its activities for members and other stakeholders to be kept informed.

Responding, the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Akogun, congratulated Mr Kuranga and his colleagues on their election and inauguration.

Mr Akogun, who was represented by the Deputy Editor, UNILORIN Bulletin, Mr Abubakar Imam, welcomed the desire of the Association to work with the Directorate.

The Director assured his guests that the management of the radio station would critically consider the resuscitation  of the Association’s programme, saying that the proposed programme would enhance interactions among postgraduate students of the University and between them and the University authorities and the rest of the public.

Mr Akogun reminded the POGSASS EXCO of the need to  always promote peace on the campus, saying that the University will not take its reputation of “no attraction for distraction” with levity.

Other members of the POGSASS delegation were Miss Omoleye Odewummi, Vice President; Mr Ibrahim Anigilaje Lawal, General Secretary; Mr Kehinde Victor Ogundoro, Public Relations Officer; Mr AbdulWarith Alubarika Akanbi, Financial Secretary; and Mr Abdulbasit Olamilekan Aliu, Welfare Director 1.
