The immediate past Financial Controller of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, Mr AbdulGaniyu Olaniyan, last Monday (September 1, 2025) assumed duties as the new Bursar of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), Abuja.

               Mr Olaniyan, who is also a former Treasurer of the University of Ilorin Branch of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), was received by some members of staff of NIALS.

               It will be recalled that the Governing Council of the Institute under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Motomori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON, at its extraordinary meeting held on Friday, 9th May, 2025, confirmed and ratified the appointment of Mr Olaniyan.

               Mr Olaniyan, a Deputy Bursar at the University Bursary Division, joins another distinguished Unilorite and former Director of the University’s School of Preliminary Studies, Fufu, Prof. Abdulqadir Ibrahim Abikan, who was last year appointed by President Tinubu as the Director-General of the Institute.

               Meanwhile, the Chairman of UNILORIN SSANU, Mr Naheem Falowo, has congratulated Mr Olaniyan on his appointment and assumption of duties.

               In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Union, Mrs Damilola Afelumo, quoted Mr Falowo as urging the new NIALS’ Bursar to give his new role his characteristic hardwork, integrity and humility, saying that he should continue to see himself as an ambassador of the University of Ilorin.

               The SSANU Chairman wished Mr Olaniyan a very peaceful and successful tenure.
