The Acting Head of the Department of Physics, University of Ilorin, Dr Taofeek Olanrewaju Lawal, has congratulated a 2005 graduate of the Department, Mr Abdullahi Haruna, on his appointment as the new Surveyor-General of Kwara State.

            In a congratulatory message, Dr Lawal described the new Surveyor-General as an outstanding Physicist who has been doing extremely well as a Surveyor over the years.

            The Head of the Department said that he was not surprised about the appointment of Mr Haruna, pointing out that he had always known him as a hardworking and exemplary professional.

            Dr Lawal urged Mr Haruna to ensure that he swiftly repositions the Office of the Surveyor-General of Kwara State for better service delivery as a way of justifying his appointment.

            He urged the new Surveyor-General to modernise surveying and mapping, strengthen land administration and capacity building to make his tenure positively memorable.

            Dr Lawal also assured other UNILORIN alumni that the University and particularly the Department would continue to keep tab on  their careers as he urged them to keep the banner of the University flying.
