Two Unilorites win $5,500 2025 Morris Foundation Scholarship

Two final year students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ilorin, Babalola Karimot Abisola and Idris Nahimah Opeyemi, are among the winners of the Global Morris Animal Foundation Scholarship,which is worth $5,500.

This  was contained in a notification letter signed by the Level Adviser, Dr O. A. Ahmed, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin last Monday (August 11, 2025).

According to the notification letter, Babalola Karimot Abisola’s entry is titled “Prevalence and Oncogenic Potential of Feline Leukaemia Virus in Domestic Cats in Lagos and Kwara States of Nigeria”, while Idris Nahimah Opeyemi’s entry is titled “Molecular Characterisation of S.aureus in Horses in Nigeria: Methicillin and Multidrug Resistance Profile”.

While Babalola was  mentored by Dr O.B.Daodu,  Idris  had Dr O. A. Ahmed and Dr I. A. Odetokun as mentors.

Reacting, the Head of the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, Dr O. B. Daodu eulogised the great achievement, which the development represented among the students of the Faculty.

He also congratulated the winners for bringing honour to the Faculty and the University at large.
