A former Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS), University of Ilorin, who is now the Vice Chancellor of African School of Economics (The Pan-African University of Excellence), Abuja, Prof. Mahfouz Adebola Adedimeji, has congratulated Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, on his election as Vice President (West Africa) of the Association of African Universities (AAU).
In a congratulatory message dated July 28, 2025, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin, Prof. Adedimeji said he received the news of Prof. Egbewole’s election with delight and excitement.
The pioneer Vice Chancellor Ahman Pategi University expressed confidence in Prof. Egbewole’s ability to discharge his duties, citing his impressive performance as Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Chairman of the Consortium of Universities in Kwara State (KU8+), and Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU).
The letter read, “Your track record of excellence is indelible in all facets of your service history as a versatile academic and university administrator.
“Your tremendous impacts on, and vast experiences in, the university system not only as a visionary Vice Chancellor of a foremost Nigerian university but also as a founding Chairman of the Consortium of Universities in Kwara State (KU8+) and Secretary General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU) make you more than fully prepared for this important assignment.
“We know that your qualities of diligence, integrity, brilliance, efficiency and excellence will be brought to bear on your new responsibility and we have absolute confidence in your capacity to deliver the goods to the continent and bring about the much-needed paradigm shift.
“While praying that the Almighty Allah grant you guidance, protection and success in discharging your duties, kindly accept the assurances of the high esteem of the Founder, Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Management and the entire ASE academic community.”
