The University of Ilorin Health Services has assured the University Community of its readiness to provide adequate healthcare services to students before, during and after the forthcoming examination period.
The Director of Health Services, Dr Rasheed Adekeye Odunola, gave this assurance recently while featuring on “Oro to n lo”, a current affairs programme of UNILORIN 89.3 FM.
Dr Odunola, who is a former member of the University Governing Council, urged members of the University community, particularly students, to take advantage of the services of the clinic for their own benefit.
The renowned medical doctor also encouraged staff and students of the University to prioritise periodic medical check-ups, saying that health is wealth.
While explaining that examination periods often take a toll on students’ health due to anxiety and stress, Dr Odunola assured the students that the University Clinic is fully prepared to handle any health issue with experienced doctors, nurses, and quality drugs.
He said that with the readiness of the University Clinic to provide quality healthcare, students should focus on their academic pursuits with confidence, knowing that their health needs would be taken care of.
Dr Odunola advised students not to wait until they are completely down before coming to the clinic, saying that the earlier a case of ill-health is reported the better.
He also encouraged students to be more careful and protective as he cautioned them against staying where they would be bitten by mosquitoes, particularly in this rainy season so as to prevent malaria and other illnesses .
He, therefore, encouraged students to take advantage of the clinic’s services anytime there is the need for it.
