The Director, Health Services, University of Ilorin, Dr Rasheed Adekanye Odunola, has encouraged staff of the Unit to emulate the sterling qualities of Mrs Roseline Musa and Mrs Esther Obadun, who recently retired from the services of the University.

Dr Odunola gave this advice last Wednesday, (June 11, 2026) while speaking at a send forth ceremony organised by the Unit in honour of the duo at the University Clinic.

The Director commended the two retirees for their invaluable contributions to the growth and smooth running of the Health Centre, saying that the management and staff of the Clinic would miss their friendship and services.

Dr Odunola, who was represented by the Head of the Dental Clinic, Dr Hassan Kalejaiye, described the two retirees as epitomes of dedication and discipline, whose work ethics and professionalism had left lasting impressions on both colleagues and patients.

“We are gathered here today not just to bid farewell, but to celebrate the lives of service and commitment these retiring staff members have lived within the University Health Services. Their impacts were visible and deeply felt,” Dr Odunola said.

He prayed for the retirees to enjoy peace, good health, and fulfillment in their retirement years.

In her remarks, the Head of Nursing Services, Mrs Fatimah Omotosho, also poured encomiums on the celebrants, describing them as dependable team members whose loyalty and diligence contributed immensely to the development of the Nursing Unit and the overall efficiency of the Health Services.

On his part, Dr Ayinla Abdulganiyu also noted that “Beyond their technical skills, the retirees showed compassion, teamwork, and a deep sense of responsibility, qualities that are not easy to come by. They will surely be missed.”

The Chairman of the University Health Services Welfare Committee, Mrs Ogunremi Olufunke, also offered  prayers for the retirees’s future, wishing them long life, strength, and joy in their new chapter.

Responding on behalf of the honourees, Mrs Esther Obadun, who worked in the Administration Department of the Clinic, expressed  appreciation to the University for the opportunity given to them to contribute their quotas to the system.

She described her career as a journey of growth and learning and thanked her colleagues for the support and shared experiences that made her time worthwhile.

“Every day brought new lessons, and I leave with beautiful memories that I will cherish forever,” Mrs Obadun said.

She prayed for the continued progress of the University Health Services Unit and pledged to remain an ambassador of the institution wherever she finds himself.

Major highlights of the event included presentation of gifts and goodwill messages from colleagues and friends, who shared fond memories and expressed deep appreciation for the retirees’ years of meritorious service.

The event was attended by the relations, colleagues and friends of the honourees from far and near.
