The death has been announced of a prominent community leader, Chief James Adeniyi Akanmu, the father of the Ag. Dean, Student Affairs, University of Ilorin, Dr Alex M. Akanmu.

A statement signed by the Dean said that Chief Akanmu passed on last Wednesday (April 16, 2025) at the age of 80 after a brief illness.

Dr Akanmu, who is also the Chairman of the University of Ilorin Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), said that the details of the burial of the deceased would be announced soon.
