UNILORIN student inaugurated as new NAKSS President

A 500 level student of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, Ibrahim Wakeel Ayinde, has been inaugurated as the new National President of the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS).

Ibrahim emerged the president-elect of the Association in a keenly contested election on February 3rd, 2025.

In his acceptance speech at the inauguration ceremony last Wednesday (March 26, 2025) at the Labour House, Ilorin, Ibrahim appreciated the University of Ilorin Management, the UNILORIN Student Union, NAKSS leadership, and the Igbomina National Students’ Union for playing significant roles in shaping him into the personality he is today. He also expressed his unwavering support and commitment to students’ development.

The new NAKSS President acknowledged the contributions of the organisations to nurturing student leadership and fostering unity among Kwara State students in their institutions.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the interests of students remain a top priority of his administration. He also promised to work closely with relevant stakeholders to drive positive change.

Ibrahim congratulated his colleagues on the new NAKSS Executive Committee and sought their cooperation to achieve the goals of the Association.

He outlined several agendas for the new administration, including promoting students’ welfare, academic excellence, and entrepreneurship, among others.

In her address, the Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Moddibo-Kawu, congratulated the new student leaders and urged them to uphold integrity and transparency.

Other dignitaries that attended the inauguration ceremony included the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Mr Salami Wasiu Onidugbe; and the Special Assistant on Drugs Prevention and Control, Mr Mikail Aileru Lekan; former student leaders, and current students, among others.
