Abdulbaqi urges extension of road upgrade to University Gate

A former Ag. Head of the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Ilorin, Prof. Saudat Abdulbaqi, has urged the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to extend the road project from the recently commissioned General Tunde Idiagbon Flyover to the Main Gate of the University of Ilorin.

Prof. Abdulbaqi made this appeal during a Personality Lecture she delivered recently, titled “Kwara Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow: The Giant Strides of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.”

The don, who is also a Council Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), commended Governor Abdulrazaq on his commitment to infrastructural development in the state, noting that the proposed road extension would further complement the governor’s ongoing efforts to improve transportation networks in the state capital.

Prof. Abdulbaqi highlighted the significance of the road project in facilitating smoother transit for students, staff, and visitors traveling to and from the University, saying that an improved road network would ease transportation challenges, improve safety, and contribute to the overall development of Ilorin’s education and business sectors.

According to her, extending the road would seamlessly integrate with recent road rehabilitation efforts that connect the General Tunde Idiagbon Flyover to Asa Dam Road, the New Yidi Road, and the Abdulwahab Folawiyo Road. She explained that these upgrades would create a more efficient transport system for residents.

She further pointed out that better road infrastructure would boost the reputation of the University and attract more academic and business activities to the area.
