The Chairman of the University of Ilorin Golden Jubilee Anniversary Committee, Prof. Olugbenga Ayodeji Mokuolu, has, again, assured members of the University community and the general public that the upcoming 50th Anniversary Celebration would be epoch-making.
Prof. Mokuolu, who stated this last Monday (February 10, 2025) while speaking at the meeting of the Committee, explained that no effort shall be spared towards ensuring that each of the series of events lined up to mark the anniversary is fantastic and memorable.
The renowned Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health added that a globally renowned intellectual, who is also conversant with the African University system and public policy analysis had been contacted to serve as the Anniversary Speaker.
Prof. Mokuolu, who thanked members of the Committee for their cooperation so far, explained that the University Administration is also ready to support the Committee towards discharging its duties effectively.
He commended the sense of volunteering and commitment being vigorously displayed by the alumni and friends of the University before and since the unveiling of the anniversary logo.
Prof. Mokuolu disclosed that some alumni of the University have already given their commitment to supporting the Committee as he stated that a particular alumnus of the College of Health Sciences had shown profound interest in supporting the Committee in the design of a fascinating website through which members of the alumni and other friends of the University can lend one form of support or the other.
While stating that individual participation by the alumni would be welcomed, Prof. Mokuolu disclosed that group participation among products of the University would also be appreciated.
On fund raising, the Chairman explained that all staff of the University would be encouraged to be involved as he charged chairmen of the various staff unions on the campus to also key in to facilitate the support of their members.
To this end, Prof. Mokuolu disclosed that the Committee had opened an account with the UNILORIN Microfinance Bank while the opening of another account with a conventional bank has almost been concluded.
Assessing the contributions of various sub-committees, the Chairman encouraged Sub-Committees Chairmen to leverage their administrative experience towards stimulating their members for effective participation.
Prof. Mokuolu, who also recalled his recent appearance on UNILORIN FM where he intimated members of the public on the mandate of his Committee and preparations so far, said that arrangements would be made for Chairmen of the various Sub-Committees to be featured on similar media programmes for them to also apprise the public on the various levels of preparations for the anniversary celebration.
