Ex-DVCs get new appointments

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has approved the appointments of the immediate past Deputy Vice Chancellors, Prof. Abayomi Omotesho and Prof. Suleiman Ambali, as Project Manager for SDG 1 and SDG 2 Initiatives and Project Manager on Ranking Implementation, respectively.

The appointments were conveyed to the duo via separate letters signed by the Registrar, Mr Mansur Alfanla. The letters,  dated 4th February, 2025, sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin last Thursday (February 6, 2025).

In the letter sent to Prof. Ambali, the Registrar said, “I write to convey the Vice Chancellor’s approval of your appointment as the Project Manager on Ranking Implementation for a period of two (2) years with effect from 3rd February, 2025 to 2nd February, 2027. Please accept my hearty congratulations and best wishes for a successful tenure.”

Similarly, in the letter sent to Prof. Omotesho, the Registrar said, “I write to convey the Vice Chancellor’s approval of your appointment as the Project Manager for SDG 1 and SDG 2 Initiatives for a period of two (2) years with effect from 3rd February, 2025 to 2nd February, 2027. Please accept my hearty congratulations and best wishes for a successful tenure.”

    As the Project Manager for SDG 1 and SDG 2 Initiatives, Prof. Omotesho will be “responsible for delivering and overseeing initiatives that enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen partnership, and foster impactful research that contributes to poverty alleviation and food security.” He will also “work closely with relevant stakeholders, both within and outside the University, to achieve measurable outcomes in these critical areas.”

On his part, Prof. Ambali will, as the Project Manager on Ranking Implementation, “coordinate and oversee strategies aimed at improving the University’s standing on global and regional ranking platforms, ensuring that our University meets key performance indicators across teaching, research, citations, industry engagement, and international outlook.” He will also “work closely with academic staff to enhance research output, strengthen publication quality, and align institutional efforts with ranking bodies’ criteria.”
