The Provost, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Biodun Sulyman Alabi, has commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for the support enjoyed by the College since he assumed office and most especially in 2024.
Prof. Alabi gave the commendation while speaking at the 2024 End-of-the-Year Party organised by the College recently.
The Provost said that the support extended to the College, particularly before and during the recent accreditation exercises, was very exciting to the management, staff and students of the College.
He, however, called for more support and interventions to enhance the service delivery capacity of the College.
Prof. Alabi, who listed the support received from the alumni of the College, among others, also thanked the Vice Chancellor for the provision of equipment, consumables and lecture rooms and College Auditorium remodeling carried out by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
He also appreciated the authorities of the University for the career progression enjoyed by some academic and non-teaching staff of the College last year.
Prof. Alabi, who recalled some other achievements of the College in the course of the year, appealed for the recruitment of adequate and competent manpower for the College, saying that there is an urgent need to replace those who have either retired from the services of the University or have left for greener pastures.
He also appealed to the University authorities to provide more office and hostel accommodation for staff and students of the College, respectively.
The Provost also appealed for the extension of internet services to the old College to cater for the staff and students who are still operating there.
In his address at the event, the Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole, congratulated the Provost, staff and students of the College on their achievements in 2024.
While urging them to work harder to justify the support rendered to the College by the University Administration and other stakeholders, the Vice Chancellor assured the College Management of more support as he described the College as an important arm of the University.
The event was attended by the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla; the University Librarian, Dr Kamaldeen Tunde Omopupa; and several staff and students of the College.
