The Ag. Head of the Department of Telecommunication Science (TCS), University of Ilorin, Dr Caroline Temidayo Adeniran, has advised students, particularly those in her Department, to continually learn and develop their skills to achieve their future ambitions.
Dr Adeniran gave this advice last Tuesday (January 7, 2025) while featuring on ‘Table Talk’, a current affairs programme of UNILORIN 89.3 FM.
The don emphasised the importance of students developing their skills through personal efforts, explaining that not all knowledge can be acquired in the lecture room.
She disclosed that her Department had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MAWEY Technology Academy, noting that their curriculum aligns with global standards, offering courses such as data communication, security, and networking.
She explained that her Department’s partnership with MAWEY, a leading global telecommunications company based in China, has facilitated the training and certification of over 2000 students since its inception.
Dr Adeniran pointed out that 150 students are currently registered for certification examinations, and that the collaboration with MAWEY has made the training and certification examination free for students. She said that this gesture has also been extended to other Departments within the University.
She added that her Department has four trained instructors capable of conducting mock examinations for students. She explained that selected students must pass through the University Administration, led by Prof. Abdulkarim Oloyede,the Director, Centre for Research, Development and In-house Training (CREDIT) and MAWEY Academy to receive free certification and write examinations.
The Head of the Department also commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for his administration’s support to her Department, which is enhancing its service delivery capabilities.
