Members of the 1991 set of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, have donated a sum of N1.37 million to the Faculty, as part of their support to the development of the Faculty and the University at  large.

Presenting the donation to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Oluyemisi B. Fawole, last Tuesday (February 4, 2025) in her office, the representative of the set, Prof. T. H. Aliyu of the Department of Agriculture of the University, said that the donation is a fulfillment of the pledge made by the set during the Agriculture Alumni Day to support the Faculty.

According to Prof. Aliyu, “This is not the first time the set has made a significant donation, having previously provided a communication system valued at ₦3 million to the Faculty. The set has also demonstrated its commitment to supporting the students, with one member sponsoring the school fees of a 400-level student and pledging to continue supporting the student until graduation.”

Prof. Aliyu emphasised that the donation aligns with the vision of the University, as outlined by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, to become the topmost University in Nigeria, one of the best ten in Africa, and among the best 500 in the world.

In her response while receiving the donation, the Dean, Prof. Fawole, expressed gratitude to the 1991 set, noting that their donation will significantly contribute to meeting the needs of the Faculty.

She also attributed the acquisition of a tractor and plough by the Faculty, valued at N33 million, to the support from the Faculty alumni.

Prof. Fawole praised the valuable contribution of the 1991 set and looked forward to receiving further support, given the calibre of individuals in the set. Present at the event were  Chairman of the Alumni Committee of the Faculty, Prof. A. K. Musa; Secretary of the committee, Dr Olufemi; a member of the 1991 set of the Faculty of Agric Alumni, Mrs Funmi, and the Sub-Dean of the Faculty, Dr Ojumola.
