The Faculty of Management Sciences was excised from the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences on the recommendation of the Director of Academic Planning Unit 2012.

The Faculty came into being on 30th July 2013 at the 230th Senate meeting of the University with the following Departments.

  4. Industrial Relations & Personnel Management
  5. Marketing
  6. Public Administration

The Faculty run also Postgraduate Programmes, leading to award of Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Accounting, Business Administration, and Finance. Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil),   Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management (PGDSM), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.d), Diploma and Certificate courses.

The Department of Marketing was established on 30th July 2013, at the 233rd Meeting of the Senate of the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. The approval for the Department was given by the Senate along with the establishment of Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Ilorin.

The Department of Public Administration was established in the 2014/2015 academic session by the Senate of the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. The Department is under the Faculty of Management Sciences of the University. The Department commenced operations with two academic staff but now has six (6) permanent academic staff. It took off with a student population of One hundred and twenty one (121) UTME students that enrolled for the B.Sc Public Administration Degree in view in 2014/2015 academic session.

The Department of Accounting and Finance was pioneered by Professor B. O. Ogundele. He started the Department as the Head of Department in 1981.

The curriculum of the first degrees offered here is as approved by the University Senate in line with NUC benchmark minimum academic standards (BMAS).
