The present head of Department of Physics, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin is Dr. ALABI, Aderemi Babatunde, born on the 5^th September, 1970. He joined the University on the 7^th August, 2002 as an Assistant Lecturer. He rose through the ranks to the position of a Reader on 1^st October, 2017.He had his University education at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He got his degrees in Physics as follows: Ph.D.  (Physics), September, 2010, M.Sc.  (Physics), May, 2002, B.Sc.  (Physics), October, 1995. He a member of the following learned professional societies: Member, International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD), USA, Member, Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP), Member, Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria and Member, Science Association of Nigeria (SAN). He is an alumni of the Haggai Institute, USA where he received Leadership Training inSeptember 2018. His area of research is Materials Science. He a product of Training in Italian laboratory, TRIL – ICTP Progarmme hosted by  Congress of National     Research – Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism (CNR-IMEM), Parma and   

Italy 2014/ 2015 and hosted by CNR-IFN – Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology, Povo, Trento, Italy, 2009. He was awarded Tetfund Institutional Grant  in 2014. He has taught several courses including the following: Mechanics and Properties of Matter (100 Level), Waves and Optics (100 Level), Atomic and Nuclear Physics (100 Level), Electricity and Magnetism I (100 Level), Practical Physics I (100 Level), Practical Physics II (100 Level), Electricity and Magnetism II (200 Level), Practical Physics and Treatment of Data I (300 Level), Practical Physics and Treatment of Data II (300 Level), Electromagnetism (300 Level), Mechanics and Special Relativity (300 Level), Communications (400 Level), Solid State Physics I (400 Level), Solid State Physics II (1400 Level), Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Materials (400 Level), Seminar (400 Level), Project and Research (400 Level), Solid State Physics (Postgraduate), Physics of Materials (Postgraduate) and Semiconductor Physics (Postgraduate). He assumed the position of the Ag. Head, Department of Physics, Unilorin1^st August, 2019 having gone through administrative positions such as: Postgraduate Coordinator, Department of Physics         2015-2017, Secretary, Departmental Research Laboratory Committee 2013/2014, Member, 2014 Annual Physics Colloquium Committee 2013/2014, 300 Level Laboratory Coordinator      2013-2020, Chairman, Departmental Social and Welfare Committee2013-2016, Examination Officer of the Department of Physics 2009-2012, Reading Room Officer      2007-2012, 400 Level Adviser 2003-2015, Member, Faculty of Physical Sciences Screening Committee 2014-2017, Member, Faculty of Physical Sciences Sport Committee 2013/2014, Member, Faculty Business Committee of Board of Examiners       2015-2017,  Deputy Director, Unilorin Renewable Energy Centre, Unilorin 2018/2019, Faculty of Physical Sciences Representative to Senate     2016-2018, Staff Adviser, Unilorin Campus Impact Group (UCIG) 2014-2017, Staff Adviser, Varsity Air Scout, University of Ilorin 2015-2017 and at the national level returning officer for 2011 State House of Assembly Election – Patigi LGA, Kwara State, Nigeria, 21^st April, 2011.

He has published in collaboration with other researchers over fifty articles local, national and international reputable journals. He has attended several conferences both within and outside Nigeria. He has supervised a number a ungergraduate and postgraduate projects in area of materials research.
