Prof. Suleiman Folorunsho Ambali

Prof Suleiman Folorunsho Ambali, a veterinarian cum Environmental Toxicologist obtained a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Veterinary Toxicology from the same institution in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Prof. Ambali joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria as an Assistant Lecturer in 1996. And later rose to become a Professor in 2012 at the University of Ilorin, which he joined in 2011. Prof. Ambali had served in many committees at Departmental, Faculty and University levels. He was the pioneer Head of the then Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology and pioneer Sub-Dean of the Faculty. He was appointed Acting Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2012, and later as substantive Dean in 2013, a position he relinquished in 2017. He was the Chairman of Unilorin Zoo Management Board between 2015 to 2018 and Chairman Library and Publications Committee and Chairman Technical Subcommittee of the Appointments and Promotions Committee between 2018 and 2020. He is currently the Head, Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology. He is a member of various academic, professional and cultural organizations. The Professor has distinguished himself academically by publishing over 100 articles in peer review journals and books nationally and internationally. He served as reviewer for many national and international journals and is in the Editorial Board of many journals across the globe. He has supervised many Master’s Degree dissertations and eight PhD theses. He has attended many seminars and conferences nationally and internationally. Prof Ambali has served as external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate students across various universities in Nigeria, and at one point or the other served as a member of the National University Commission and Veterinary Council of Nigeria accreditation teams to many Universities in Nigeria.
