Dr. Alfred F. Attah obtained his first degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara state. His foundation in the biology-chemistry interface enabled him to pursue his M.Sc and Ph.D along the line of his passionate dream in drug discovery from natural sources (Pharmacognosy). He obtained a M.Sc in Pharmacognosy from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He further participated in the World Bank supported capacity development/training program on Biopharmaceutical Product Development and manufacturing in 2010 co-organised by National Biotechnology Development Agency, Abuja Nigeria and School of Pharmacy, University of Waterloo & PharmEng Technology Inc, Canada. He then proceeded for his PhD in Pharmacognosy at the premier University of Ibadan in 2011. His interesting area of research involving the documentation of indigenous knowledge based on the use of medicinal plants, their safety especially in reproductive women and interest in discovery of cysteine-rich circular peptides in Nigerian plants earned him a scholarship (OeAD) to Vienna from the Austrian government in 2011. In 2013 the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), Brazil selected him as an outstanding Scientist/youth to attend a training workshop at the Advanced School, São Paulo in the area of Natural products. In July 2013, he was selected as the Principal investigator by Grand Challenges Canada’s Stars in Global Health round 5. He equally participated in the International Training workshop on Herbal Medicine: Drug Discovery from Herbs which took place in India in 2015. Dr. Alfred is a postdoctoral alumnus of the Medical University of Vienna, Austria since 2018 and a currently the Coordinator of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Drug Development, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
