Professor JIMOH, Alao Abdullahi is a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering Faculty of Engineering University of Ilorin, Nigeria. His qualifications are B.Eng.(Civil); M.Eng. (Civil); Ph.D. (Civil), MNSE, and R.Engr. (COREN, Nigeria). He specialized in structure and material engineering with over 30 years of teaching experience including supervision of over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate students projects and publication of over 100 papers in reputable journal outlets.
His administrative experience includes three times headship of Department of Civil Engineering (2010-2012; 2015 -2017 and 2021 till present), He has also served as Examination officer for the department and was once a SWEP coordinator for the Faculty.
Outside the university, Jimoh has served as an external examiner to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho and also has a 12 month sabbatical leave at Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil. He is a reviewer of many journals, some of which are Nigerian Journal of Technological Development, Journal of Research Information in Civil Engineering, TechnoScience Africana Journal, Nigerian Journal of Technology and Journal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management.
In addition to activities highlighted above, Jimoh has some community services at various times, such as committee and board member, committee chairman, Faculty representative and designer of various structures within and outside the university in which he also supervised their constructions.
His area of research are:

  1. Application of timber for structural purposes and as reinforcement in concrete;
  2. Timber waste material as reinforcement in cement sheet;
  3. Bamboo culms as reinforcement in beams and slabs;
  4. Application of local raw materials as reinforcement in cement sheets;
  5. Use of bricks as replacement for concrete in pre-stressed concrete elements;
  6. Computer application in Civil Engineering; and
  7. Development of rational design equations for timber beams and columns.
