Professor Rotimi Williams Omotoye is a Professor of Christian Studies. His areas of specialization are Church History, African Christianity, PentecostalChurches, Ecumenical Movements and Inter-religious relations. He is currently the representative of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between University of Ilorin, Ilorin and University of Georgia, Athens, United States of America. He is also representing the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ilorin’s Ethical Research Committee. He has published many articles in International, National and Local books and Journals and he has attended many International, National and Local conferences and workshops. Professor Omotoye attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he obtained his first and second degrees in Religious Studies. He obtained his PhD at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan and attended the Ecumenical Institute, Bossey, Switzerland for a Diploma in Ecumenical Studies in 2000. He served as a Registrar at Christ International Divinity College, Erinmo Ijesa, and a Lecturer at the Department of Religious Studies, Osun State College of Education, Ilesa before he moved to the Department of Religions, University of Ilorin in 1994 as an Assistant Lecturer. He rose through the ranks and became a Professor in 2012. He was an Acting Head of Department of Religions in 2007/2008. He presented the One Hundred and Fifty-Ninth (159th) Inaugural Lecture entitled: “Christianity as a Catalyst for Socio-economic and Political Change in Yorubaland, Nigeria: An Account of a Church Historian” in 2015.Professor Omotoye was the immediate past President of the University of Ilorin Union Cooperative Society and a Director of the Unilorin Microfinance Bank.  He is a Clergy of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion, Kwara Diocese. He is the Vicar of Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Baboko and Archdeacon of Ilorin Archdeaconry.
