Short Profile of Dr. Tajudeen Okekunle Amusa

Dr. T.O. Amusa is a Senior Lecturer and currently the Ag. Head of Department of Forest Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin. He holds BSc, MSc and PhD in Forest Resources Management with specialization in Forest Economics and Management. He also holds certificate courses in Tropical Ecology and Conservation, Plant Tissue Culture and Micro-propagation and Geographical Information System. Before joining the services of University of Ilorin, Dr. Amusa worked as a Lecturer/Research Scientist at the Federal College of Wildlife Management, New-Bussa under the aegis of Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN). He came in as one of the pioneer academic staff of the Department of Forest Resources Management and has covered virtually all duties in the Department. He was involved in the development of the Departmental Courseware. He has served as Coordinator of the Practical Year Training Programme, Course Level Adviser; Examination Officer, as well as the Departmental Representative on several committees within and outside the Faculty. He is currently a member of National-Level IUCN Expert Assessment Group for the Green List (EAGL), Nigeria. He is also a member of the Technical Committee, United Nation’s Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development, Ilorin (RCE- Ilorin) as well as Deputy Chairman, University of Ilorin Zoological Garden among several others. Dr. Amusa has participated in several research and development projects within and outside the country. He is a member of many Academic and Professional Associations including the African Forest Forum (AFF), Commonwealth Forestry Association (CFA), Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN) and Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF) among others. Dr. Amusa is engaged in research into diverse aspects of renewable natural resources including forest resources, wildlife, the habitat and environmental management. He has many published articles in journals, books, edited conference proceedings and abstracts. His personal interests include counseling and mentoring, debate on current thinking in a variety of fields, nature walks and meditations. He is happily married and blessed with children.
