“Luqman Aribidesi Olayaki holds MB;BS, M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Lagos, Lagos and University of Ilorin, Ilorin, respectively. He began his academic career in 2001 and rose through the rank to become Professor of Physiology of the University of Ilorin in 2019.

Prof. Olayaki is an experienced teacher and examiner at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also served as a resource person to Faculty of Anaesthesia, National Postgraduate Medical College revision courses at various times. He has successfully supervised 5 Ph.D. theses, 17 M.Sc. dissertations and over 150 B.Sc. projects in Physiology. Prof. Olayaki’s major research interests are in endocrine and reproductive physiology. He has over 80 scholarly publications in national and international journals to his credit. He reviews articles for Nigerian Journal of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Tropical Journal of Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Biology, Nutrition and Metabolism, Nigerian Journal of Physiological Sciences.

Prof. Olayaki is an external Examiner to several Universities in Nigeria, including University of Ibadan, Ibadan; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso; University of Medical Sciences, Ondo; Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti and Lagos State University, Lagos.

Prof. Olayaki is a member of several scientific and professional organizations including Physiological Society of Nigeria (PSN), Nigerian Society for Experimental Biology (NISEB), African Association of Physiological Societies (AAPS), American Physiological Society (APS) and Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Prof. Olayaki has won several grants and awards from The Physiological Society (UK), American Physiological Society, The Endocrine Society (USA), International Diabetes Federation and American Diabetes Association. He has attended conferences in United Kingdom, United States of America, Brazil, United Arab Emirate and South Africa. He has had training at the Diabetes Research Laboratory, University of Ulster, Coleraine, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.
