Prof. Oseni is an Arabic Literary Historian, Critic, Poet, Play-right, Translations Consultant (Arabic & English) and Islamic propagator.He rose through the ranks from 1st September 1978 to Professorship on 1st October 1995. He was the Foundation Chairman, Faculty of Arts Special Task Fource on Result Computation, 1985-1997; Head of Department of Religions, University of Ilorin, 1997-999; Head of Department of Arabic, 2008-2009 and Dean, Faculty of Arts, 2009 – 2011. Authored more than 29 published books and monographs as well as 60 refereed academic papers in journals in Nigeria, Asia and Europe. He is the Author of three plays in Arabic and four collections of poems is English. He is the Foundation Editor in Chief of Alore (The Faculty of Arts Journal) Unilorin, 1985-90, the Executive Editor, Al-Haqiqah (a Unilorin Muslim Community Publication), 1990-92 and  Member of Editor Board and Member of Advisory Committee to many Academic Journals in different Universities and learned association in Nigeria. He is a Member of Nigerian Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (N.A.T.A.I.S) 1979-to date; Editor-in chief of its Journal, NATAIS, 1979-83 Secretary-General,  1983-85 and National Vice-President (Arabic), 1985-88, 1995-99, Member of the Nigerian Association for the Study of Religions (N.A.S.R), 1979 to date; Member of its Editorial Board, 1979-81, and Associate Editor of its publications, 1981-84, Member of the Association of Nigerian Authors (A.N.A) May 1993 to date.He  is an awardee of Fellowship of Arabic Studies in Nigeria (FASN) for the year 2003 of National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS). He was the Sole Designer of the Primary Schools’ Islamic Religious Knowledge (I.R.K) syllabus for the Mid-West State Government of Nigeria, Oct; 1975, on a resource person for the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) its Language Development Programme (Arabic) Feb; 1988, participated in its book-writing workshop (Arabic) July, 1990, a member of the Governing Board of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments, September 1988-August 1991, and a Member of the Technical Committee on the Integration of Quranic Education into the U.B.E. Programme, the Chief Examiner in Arabic at H.S.C./A/Level (1979-1993), and Senior Secondary School for WAEC, (1979-2002) and a Member of the planning committees of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Cresent University, Abeokuta and Muhammad Kamaludeen University, Ilorin.  Prof. Oseni   is the Waziri and Chief Imam of Auchi Kingdom,  Edo State of Nigeria from 7th December 2002 to date.
